There are numerous bereavement support services in Maryland and throughout the country.  Services may be provided by hospice organizations, hospitals, community agencies, churches and volunteer support groups.

Finding an Individual Grief Counselor

There are a variety of ways to find a grief counselor:

·         Contact the agencies listed above.

·         Contact your insurance company.

·         Contact your employer’s Employee Assistance Program.

·         Contact your personal physician.




Grief can sometimes lead to severe depression, anxiety or a mental health crisis, including suicidal thoughts.  The numbers below may be reached 24-hours a day and have TDD capability for the deaf.  If you or someone you love is having a mental health crisis and/or is suicidal, you may also call 911 or go to closest emergency department at your local hospital.
